I would play it by ear, see what your schedule is, and see what you feel like doing. I think weekly posts are frequent enough to keep readers engaged. Coco recently posted…Hellhound, Maple Pecan Porter, And Edamame Hummus
Andrea, I see why I love your blog so much we both have a tendency to be type A+++. If you can’t do something perfect or over the top then we get stressed about the outcome. Your blog is wonderful and I feel what ever you choose it will continue to be successful. Here are a few suggestion I might offer. Maybe write some generic good health and wellness post that would still teach your readers information but aren’t so personal for you… These could be set up on your same schedule of posting but could be done way ahead. Maybe you could repost greatest hits some of the most popular blogs/vlogs. You can set up an auto reply for people posting comments. Another idea is arrange 5 weeks of guess posting you could find help there on our healthysELF page…. Or just leave a message gone fishing and returning in five weeks. Good luck with your schooling and please know what ever you decide we are here supporting you! Have a great day!
I understand you have to do what’s good for you but please don’t stop blogging! I love your blog and always look forward to reading it. Perhaps a little hiatius is what you need.w
my advice would be to not make a plan and keep blogging whenever you have time… not freaking out about taking pictures of absolutely everything… just truly writing about what you feel like at the time (whether itz food, fitness, work, etc!) best of luck lady!!! I’d say no,don’t stop blogging, but don’t let it get in the way of school either, of course! Feel it out during the first week, and see how it goes! I’m sure you can figure out a one-day-a-week schedule that will work, without feeling too overwhelmed!
Alright lady, here is my advice. I understand that you want to keep people engaged in your blog and you kind of feel an obligation to all of those people who read your blog regularly and get really good information from it. I know that you have a ton of followers from the blog community, so here is my idea: Invite a group of people to guest blog during your 5 weeks of crazy time. Pick people who all talk about different things and give them a theme to write about and then all you have to do is post it. No worries about forgetting to take pictures or making sure you have things to talk about. Use this time to engage all of the knowledge from your blogging friends. Hey pretty girl! I have struggled with thoughts like this at times too. I started my original blog last Dec. and then took a break over the summer, and then my most recent one for about a month and a half. I have a feeling we are a lot like each other in that if we don’t do something perfectly and to an extreme, we prefer to just not do it at all ha ha! I started my blog up again promising myself that if I need a day off, or life gets in the way, I will take a day off and won’t beat myself up. I would much rather have quality over quantity when it comes to posts. If I was you, I would try not to set a plan for a couple weeks and see how you feel. If you don’t blog everyday, nonworries! Maybe the way you will make it work is by publishing 3 awesome posts a week, instead of all or nothing in the end though, you have got to do what is best for you!
Love your blog, but you gotta do you! You’re loyal followers will be so excited to hear from you again and we will all understand what you’re doing. I would do what Coco says. Play it by ear. See how it goes for a week and post if you can or even if you have super shorts posts. If school is your first priority, it’s your priority. We’ll all be waiting eagerly for you Christina recently posted…Three Ingredient Cookies
I think doing what you mentioned of maybe a once a week update would work well. Blogging should be enjoyable so don’t put unneccessary stress on yourself to keep it up 100%. With that said, taking 5 weeks completely off could be a lot so that’s why I like the ideas of once a week or some pre-written stuff or guest posts to keep the blog “alive” but not have so much pressure on you during a busy time. Tina @ Best Body Fitness recently posted…Good Reminders
I think it would be awesome if you approached the blog the same way you plan on approaching workouts. If you have time to pop in even just with a paragraphs post and feel like it I’m sure we’ll all enjoy the update and if you’re just too swamped then that’s okay too. It’s only 5 weeks, we won’t forget about you that fast! Lol maybe just commit to checking I’m twice during the 5 weeks and if you check in more that’s just extra:)
I think it’s important to do what feels right. If you feel like you have the time & energy to blog once a week then do that. Maybe save it for Friday nights/Saturday morning or even Sunday evenings.
Taking a break isn’t a step back, sometimes it’s just necessary. Also maybe line up some guest posts if you can and have the guest posters FB, tweet, etc so you don’t have to worry. Kelly @ Cupcake Kelly’s recently posted…Playlist Thursday: Let’s Get Speedy
I love your blog and will miss the frequent posts, but I’ll definitely keep reading after your break is over! Just do what is best for yourself and your schedule
I would just blog when/if you had time. Your blog is interesting enough that people would not forget you in 5 weeks. My favorite part of your blog is when you tell us what is going on in medical school.
I have been reading your blog for a while now and LOVE LOVE it. I am OLDER(think your mother’s age) but still enjoy everything so much. I was an RN for 20 years(some years at a medical center) and love reading all your medical school information. I am also the mother of two twnety year old college students—I amke them read your blog, too!! I became a Psych/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner about three years ago so can relate somewhat to pressures of school.
I agree with the ideas for a guest host. LOVED the one from your mom. I would love to hear form Kyle reagrding orthopeadics especially in regards to exercise. And it soulds like your roommate might could post. I would be glad to send you something reagrding mental health to review and post as a guest poster.
I understand your concerns and appreciate your dedication to medical school. Selfishly—I would so miss your blog. You are so inspiring. Just promise us you will be back if you need to take a sabbatical!
Jeni you absolutely made my day- thank you SO much for your kind comment. You are amazing for being an RN for 20 years! RNs are the hardest working people I have met in the hospitals. And congrats on becoming an NP!! My mom will die with happiness when I tell her you loved her post!! haha!! I hope you have a wonderful night and I hope to talk to you again soon (or maybe get a guest post from you…? email me!!)
You could ask friends to guest blog 1x a week or more-you could assign weeks. How fun to hear from your friends! Or ask Kyle to do it! . I like blogs with partners-especially if they write about their partner.
Girl no stress! Just blog when you have time – that’s what it should be like all the time! We all have phase when we have less time for the blog than others, but that’s good because it means we are living. Just whenever you get a chance, and more when you have time again! Good luck! I love love love reading your blog. When I see an update in my email I get so excited to read it! But of course, I ain’t complaining if you post less.. it must be draining to constantly keep us all updated. If you take a hiatus I’ll still be reading once you get back, so no worries there!
you are by far one of my favorite bloggers! You are so sincere and genuine. Plus I want to be a doctor too, and you are so, so inspirational! Even though you’ll probably make a lot of readers sad if you stop blogging, you should do what’s in your best interest!
Thank you so much Angela! I won’t stop completely- just take some time off during this rotation when I need to. I love that you want to be a doctor too!!! How far along are you in school?
