As soon as clinic was over on Friday afternoon, I jumped into my car and hit the road to drive home to see Kyle. It’s a 3 1/2 hour drive which is NO fun. I usually try to listen to a book on tape, NPR, or the John Mayer Pandora station so at least I’m learning something or singing something.
Friday night was pretty uneventful. Kyle and I watched the new episode of Scandal and Modern Family and had some ice cream (love being home at my mom’s house because there is always ice cream)
Then on Saturday Kyle went to a big high school wrestling tournament and left me home for the day. I intended to study and do laundry but in reality I slept until 2 in the afternoon… guess I needed some extra sleep?
Later in the day I eventually got my laundry done and checked some school stuff off my list… but in general it was a pretty non-productive day. That night, Kyle and I ordered a pizza, rented a movie, and finished the night off with 2 chocolate chip cookies. I wish I had taken a picture of the giant pizza so you could see how fabulous and unhealthy it was, but I was too busy eating it to bother snapping a picture!
Sunday was my one day of productivity. I drove back to Indianapolis, went to the mall to get Kyle’s Valentine’s Day present, cleaned, unpacked, and started my vegetable garden!
This will be my third year of planting veggies and flowers that I grow from seeds!
I start them indoors 8-10 weeks before I intend to plant them outside. I’ve found that if you wait until April or May to plant them outside, the seeds will take so long to grow that you won’t get veggies until September or October.
By starting them indoors, you get a head-start and will have fruit earlier in the season.
I have used these Jiffy starter green houses each year and they never fail me!
You water the pellets and they expand. Then you can plant seed in each one, cover the green house top, and wait for them to grow!
This year I choose flowers, vegetables, and herbs.
Sunday also happened to be a day for presents! I had 2 huge packages waiting for me outside when I got home. One package was from Designer Whey!

Look at all these goods! Protein powder, protein water mixes, protein bars, shakes- AMAZING!
I can’t wait to try everything and tell you all about it. Stay tuned!
The best present came from my mom- 2 new pairs of Tom’s!!
She told me she wanted to get me some for Valentines and couldn’t decide which pair she liked best and so she got both!
How lucky am I?
Okay sorry for the completely random post today… hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Questions:
Do you wear Tom’s shoes?
Did you have any big unhealthy meals like pizza this weekend?
Do you have a vegetable or flower garden?

Lazy weekends can be so wonderful! I LOVE both your Toms. I’m kind of obsessed, I have so many pairs. I’m actually wearing a pair under my wedding dress. You won’t be able to see my shoes under my dress even if I tried so I figure I may as well be comfy. ;p

Sounds like you had a great weekend and your body definitely needed the rest! I was pretty lazy all weekend and loved it. I think I needed a couple of days to recharge my batteries too! I really am hoping to plant a small vegetable garden this spring. My mom always had an awesome garden when I was growing up and I hope to follow in her footsteps!
Oh please send me your moms gardening tips!!! Glad you recharged this weekend Jana! xoxo

One day you can have tons of veggies! What are Foms? I will have to look into this!!
I used to spend long hours with my grandmother outdoors. She had a beautiful flower garden along with her very large vegetable garden. Though she was a farmer’s wife and had to spend a lot of time helping out with the family business, she made time to tend to both of her gardens. Her vegetable garden was not only a labor of love; it was something that helped them through the winter. The more they could can, the more money they saved when milk production was low and the money was not as good as it should have been.*..
