Thanks so much for the tips on what makeup to use! Bare Minerals has the most votes by far. We have a Bare Minerals store here in Indy, so I might go try some out and have them tell me what to get for my skin. That sounds like the best idea to me!
In the past month or so I’ve been doing lots of wedding planning stuff and it’s SO much fun so I want to tell you all about it
We are getting married on Friday, May 2 which is in 86 days!! (Not that I’m counting..) So far, the wedding planning process has been so so fun and I want to share some of the details with you! Also, I would love any wedding planning tips you guys have!!
Our wedding is going to be super duper small. We are inviting Kyle’s parents, sisters, sister’s husband and kids, and grandparents along with my parents and grandparents. I think there will be 18 total in attendance including Kyle and me. We will have a ceremony and then all go to dinner!
The general “theme” is kind of garden-y and intimate. We are having it in New Harmony, Indiana where my mom and step-dad live.
The wedding ceremony will be held here:
This is the “Roofless Church” a gorgeous open-air church and garden in New Harmony Indiana. Kyle’s parents were married here and it’s right across the street from where Kyle proposed.
I don’t think we will do it all up like this photo. We might have little stands on each side of us with some flowers.
Before we head to the ceremony, all the ladies will get ready together in a room at the Inn in New Harmony. My mom booked a room similar to this one I think, but she said it’s two floors and has a kitchen and everything!!! I think it will be so fun getting ready together. Kyle and I can stay in the room the night of the wedding too!
I haven’t planning this all out yet, but I think the men will all meet at the Roofless Church and the ladies will come shortly after. The mom’s will walk down the isle first. Then Kyle’s little niece Sophia will be the flower girl. Lastly, I will walk down the isle! Eeekkkk!!!!
We just booked a string trio to play for the ceremony and they are going to make the day so beautiful with their music!
Our Pastor from Indianapolis is coming down to New Harmony to marry us. She is fantastic and will do an incredible job.
After the ceremony, we will all head to dinner at the Red Geranium, the nice restaurant in New Harmony (mind you, New Harmony has a population of 900 people. I graduated with 13 in my senior class!!)
We have a large table in a back room at the restaurant. I think I want to plan a 3 course menu out for us, giving 2 choices for each course. Then we can all have cake for dessert!! I’ve been looking at cakes and love the simple look of this:
I am crossing my fingers and toes that peonies will be in season this year because I can’t think of anything better than a huge bouquet of white peonies!
I think these are roses? They kind of look like peonies! Maybe I could do something like this?
For the table centerpieces I would love all white bouquets with hydrangeas, baby’s breath, roses… all the flowers!!!
I WISH I could show you my dress!!!!!! It’s so pretty. It’s lacy and garden-y and has a big huge explosion of organza and lace in the back. I love it. The shape is kind of similar to this one, and it’s lace as well, but mine has a sweetheart neckline with lace overtop that goes straight across.
We have a photographer booked, cake maker booked, venue, music, food (even though we haven’t set a menu). I think we are getting most things checked off the list!
I still need to get someone to do our hair and makeup that day. And I feel like I should have a trial run with hair and makeup before the big day right??
The only other thing to tell you about is the shower/party we’re having the weekend before the wedding. I wanted all our family and friends to get together in a casual setting to celebrate since they won’t be at the actual wedding!
We’re going to have an afternoon celebration in a park in New Harmony. We have a band booked to play some music for us, we are grilling out pork tenderloins (I think) and will have tons of other food. I want to have outdoor games like corn-hole (do you call it that??). We’re inviting around 150 people although I don’t think everyone will make it- so maybe 100 people or a little less?
So that’s the wedding plan!! What do you think?
What’s your best wedding planning advice?
